How to Import Text from a File or URL into Excel?

Description
NOTES
  • This is an extended version of the IMPORTCSV function.
  • It supports both delimited text and fixed-width text formats, allowing you to:
    • Split data by a specified delimiter (such as commas, tabs, or semicolons..)
    • Split data by character positions for fixed-width files where no delimiter exists.
  • In addition, it allows you to explicitly specify:
    • Text encoding (for example UTF-8 or ANSI), ensuring characters are read correctly.
    • Locale, which controls how numbers, dates, and regional formats are interpreted.
Syntax
Copied!
=IMPORTTEXT(path, [delimiter], [skip rows], [take rows], [encoding], [locale])
