Description
Imports data from a text file or URL into Excel, returning either raw text lines or a structured table.
NOTES
- This is an extended version of the IMPORTCSV function.
- It supports both delimited text and fixed-width text formats, allowing you to:
- Split data by a specified delimiter (such as commas, tabs, or semicolons..)
- Split data by character positions for fixed-width files where no delimiter exists.
- In addition, it allows you to explicitly specify:
- Text encoding (for example UTF-8 or ANSI), ensuring characters are read correctly.
- Locale, which controls how numbers, dates, and regional formats are interpreted.
Syntax
Copied!=IMPORTTEXT(path, [delimiter], [skip rows], [take rows], [encoding], [locale])
